CHILDLINE Ballari, funded by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, Through CHILDLINE India Foundation (Mumbai) started functioning with effect from 1st July 2011. The project is running by four partner NGOs fulfilling various roles such as Nodal, Collaborative organization and Sub-centre organization. The Nodal organization for CHILDLINE Ballari, is Centre for Rural Development (CORD) Collaborative organization – Ballari Diocesan Development Society (BDDS), Sub-centre at Hospet – The Hospet Don Bosco Salesian Society, and Sub-centre at Kudligi-SNEHA,
There are total number of 20 staff working in all the four centres, creating awareness on child rights and 1098 service on daily as well as case interventions. . Ever since the inception of the project the project the staff have been involved in Child rights & 1098 awareness in schools, public places, villages, slums police stations, bus stations , religious places, railway station, auto stands, market places, theatres etc. Some of the methods used are distribution of leaflets, puppet show, street play, songs and slogans, rally, exhibition stalls etc. 1098 CHILDLINE Awareness program for SHG members, youth groups, NGO staff & members etc, were implemented in coordination with the District administration, Dept of Women and child Welfare, Dept of Public Instructions, Dept of Law and order, Labour department, ZP, Urban local bodies, and Gram panchayats local bodies, Panchayat Development Officer, SDMC etc.
